I only want to enrol my child in nippers, do we have to join as a family?
Yes, due to our strict child-safe standards all nippers aged 5-13 must join under a family membership. There is no per-child fee and you are welcome to include everyone in your family plus grandparents in your family membership. MMLSC is an inclusive, supportive community organisation and has so much on offer for every age.
My child turns 5 after the 30th of September but before nippers starts in November, can I sign them up?
Unfortunately not. The joining age is set by Surf Life Saving Australia and is not something that we can change.
Do all members receive a key?
No, club keys are held by committee members and and long-term (3+yrs) patrolling members. We encourage all members to get involved at MMLSC.
When can we access the club and use the facilities/equipment?
In addition to training program times the club is open during the following times.
Morning Swimming – Year Round
Monday – Friday 7:00am – 8:00am
Saturday & Sunday 7:00am – 9:00am
Patrol Times – First weekend of November to Easter
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays
12:00pm – 5:00pm
I only want to sign up for the Nipper holiday program, do I need to join?
Yes, we require all families wishing to sign up for the Nipper Holiday Program to also join MMLSC under a family membership.
Renewing Members
Am I eligible for the Patrol membership discount?
To be eligible for the patrol member membership discount you must sign up to complete a Life Saving Award (Bronze Medallion/Surf Rescue Certificate) and commit to 16+ hours of patrol over the season.
If I have a senior currently patrolling does that count as our active requirement?
Yes, if your senior can commit to 16+ patrol hours for the season your family will be eligible for the patrol discount.
I’m a nipper parent and I can’t commit to an active role is there any way around this?
Our expectation is for at least one parent/grandparent to be able to support at the majority of our nippers sessions although we understand it may not be possible every week. If supporting during program times is not suitable for you, there are many other ways to fulfil the active requirement throughout the year. Our nipper program requires support with communication, events and administration outside of program times or the nipper subcommittee meetings are monthly and usually on a weeknight. You can also select an active role from outside of the nipper program. Volunteering in the bar on a Friday night, helping with Friday Night Dinners, Working Bees and the Highway Collection are all easy ways to fulfil your active role.

Due to strict Child Safe Standards upheld by Life Saving Victoria, all members 18+ require a WWCC. For more information on applying please click here.
Can we sign up and apply for a WWCC after as long as it’s before the season starts?
Unfortunately not. We require a valid WWCC before we can process your membership. We recommend applying for this asap to ensure there is no delay to your family membership being processed.
I’m a teacher, do I require a WWCC?
Teachers can nominate Mount Martha Life Saving Club and LSV under their VIT Check. Please click here

I’m a police officer, do I require a WWCC?
Yes, we still require police officers to hold a valid Working With Children Check. While they are exempt in certain situations LSV requires notification if an offence occurs.
I already have a Working With Children Check, how do I add MMLSC and LSV?
Go to www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au
