Yes, due to our strict child-safe standards all nippers aged 5-13 must join under a family membership. There is no per-child fee and you are welcome to include everyone in your family plus grandparents in your family membership. MMLSC is an inclusive, supportive community organisation and has so much on offer for every age
Yes, as our nippers program is starting in January we are accepting nippers turning 5 before the 31st of December 2023. Please note that this does mean they will need to complete two years of U6 to align with the correct age groups. You will not be able to register them on SLSA until their birthday. In the meantime you can register the rest of your family through SLSA and email membership@mmlsc.com.au to register your four year old’s details.
No, club keys are held by committee members and and long-term (3+yrs) patrolling members. We encourage all members to get involved at MMLSC we have a number of vacant committee positions if you are interested in becoming more involved within the club. For more information please email membership@mmlsc.com.au.
To be eligible for the membership discount you must sign up to complete a Life Saving Award (Bronze Medallion/Surf Rescue Certificate) and commit to 16+ hours of patrol over the season.
Our expectation is for at least one parent/grandparent to be able to support at the majority of our nippers sessions, we understand it won’t be possible every week. If supporting during program times is not suitable for you, there are many other ways to fulfil the active requirement throughout the year. Our nipper program requires support with communication, events and administration outside of program times or the nipper subcommittee meetings are monthly and usually on a weeknight. You can also select an active role from outside of the nipper program. Volunteering in the bar on a Friday night a few times throughout the season or helping out at social events would be an easy way to fulfil your active role.
We require a valid WWCC before we can process your membership. We recommend applying ASAP as they can take a few weeks to be approved. Your membership will remain pending until we have received the paperwork.
Teachers can nominate Mount Martha Life Saving Club and LSV under their VIT Check. Please forward membership@mmlsc.com.au a copy of the confirmation email.
Yes, we still require police officers to hold a valid Working With Children Check. While they are exempt in certain situations LSV requires notification if an offence occurs.
