We are looking forward to a fantastic season and welcome all our Nippers and families.
Nippers are provided an environment to learn all about being safe down at the beach. They’re also trained in the basic skills of life saving including running on sand, wading, open water swimming and board paddling. There are also opportunities to compete against other clubs at Nipper Carnivals. It is a fun environment encouraging all age groups to ‘have a go’ and have fun. The children are placed in their age groups under the supervision of a Coach and an Age Manager.
MMLSC Nipper Prelim Swim (compulsory for ALL Nippers)
Every Nipper is required to complete the prelim swim evaluation for their age group before participating in any water activities at the club. Please note that your family membership must be fully processed before you attend.
Our pool sessions have been completed but we will be conducting sessions at the beach on a Tuesday afternoon (more info on Team App). Alternatively, take this LSV Swim Waiver and have it signed off by your child’s swim teacher Junior Preliminary Skills Assessment Template. Please then scan it to nippers@mmlsc.com.au

A Community Effort
It’s essential to understand that our Nippers program is primarily volunteer-run. This structure ensures a close-knit, community-centric environment. However, it also means that we heavily rely on parent support to achieve the following;
- To run a successful and enjoyable program.
- To guarantee the safety of our Nippers around the water.
By registering at MMLSC, you acknowledge the expectation to contribute to and support the Nippers program. Getting involved isn’t just about obligation; it’s a rewarding experience that offers a fantastic opportunity to engage with and strengthen ties within the local community.
Friday Night Socials
Every Friday night post-training, our Nipper Families and Volunteers gather upstairs to unwind and dine together. With our bar in full swing and a dedicated group of parent volunteers serving dinner, it’s the perfect setting to relax after a hectic week. Meanwhile, our canteen remains open, offering kid-friendly meals. Each week, you can secure your dinner tickets in advance via Team App.
Nippers Sub-Committee
In order to run a fantastic Nipper program, we need parents to actively be involved. Nippers is not only for your children but a great way for you to make some great new community connections and maybe even learn some new skills! To support the program please sign up for a role on our Nipper Sub-Committee and get involved. If you have any questions members should contact our Director of Junior Development.
